Carols at the Manor event will involve readings from the first Christmas story, a choir and a pianist leading the Carols, children performing a Christmas presentation and a short Bible message.

Greetings from the Larder, the “hub” of Holmsted.

So much is going on at the Manor, with new ministries being birthed and old ministries being revamped.  There is no shortage of vision and that is also true for the Kitchen!

Over the past months we have realized that it isn’t just about food but rather what is created with the food.  In the kitchen we will often say “a poorly executed meal served with love is better than a great meal served with distain!”

It is not just about feeding someone’s tummy but rather about feeding their heart and soul as well.  We have done this by building community in providing good satisfying home cooked meals and creating an atmosphere that encourages people to sit down, slow down and share their lives as they break bread together.

In the past year we have experienced many wonderful changes in community life here at the Manor.  It started simply, with a pot of tea and a warm plate….some good meals and some not so good meals all served with love.

So what’s next in the kitchen? In the New Year we are hosting a seminar called  “Food For Thought”, focusing on creating community through the kitchen.  Until then we will concentrate on yeast breads, biscuits, quiche, curries, cream teas, Southern fried chicken, beer batter fish n chips, lots of apple crumble and the traditional Sunday roast.  Keep an eye out for the new addition to the Holmsted website: “Recipe of the Month!”  These are exciting times here at the Manor and it is a privilege to be a part of it all!

We have been learning about intercession, missions, the image of God,
the Holy Spirit, and Scripture. The students are participating weekly
in local outreach to various youth and homeless ministries in the area
as well as a schools ministry and kids ministry and are seeing lives
being changed! They are learning to share the love of Jesus while
ladling soup, giving out blankets, doing kids clubs in local schools
and playing soccer with youth.

We are also seeing amazing personal breakthroughs in the lives of our
students. They are coming to understand God’s love for them and being
set free from past wounds, silence, and shame to pursue their passions
in the nations of the world and the spheres of society—everything from
becoming a nurse in Africa to making transformational films in Denmark
to working in Moldova helping trafficked women! It is a privilege to
see God working in their lives, opening their eyes to who He is, who
they were created to be, and how they are able to serve Him in the
world.

We have chosen outreach locations for the 10 week DTS outreach. Teams
of staff and students will be ministering in India, Fiji, and Iceland,
sharing Jesus through evangelism and mercy ministries. We will be
traveling to each location for a pastoral visit to make sure the teams
are working fruitfully and well. We are so excited by the multiplying
work God is doing in His Kingdom!

It was an exciting 3 days as the Wildfire event came to Holmsted manor. Wildfire or KKi (King’s Kids International) is a ministry of YWAM committed to reaching lost young people, mobilising youth and families into mission and equipping the church to do the same. We had over 40 passionate young people worshiping, praying and seeking God!! It was a real blessing to have such the wildfire event here in Holmsted.

On the last day of the event the KKi ran an outreach to the local community. People from all around came to a day of fun activities i.e. knock down the cans, football and scavenger hunt followed by a message on God. We wanted to thank all of those who participated in the event and say a huge thank you!

Its really amazing to see young people passionate for God and His Kingdom.

During the event worship just broke out into the halls of the manor and we were able to capture it on camera… please take a moment and view it as it is truly amazing to see God pour out into the young people who came..
