An opportunity to serve those who would otherwise be rough-sleeping on the streets of Brighton and Hove. The Night Shelter offers them a hot meal and a warm bed for the night throughout the winter months.
According to recent statistics, 1 in 69 people in Brighton and Hove are homeless - the highest levels of homelessness outside of central London. Since 2011, local churches have been taking action and collaboratively begun to run the Brighton and Hove Churches Winter Night Shelter during the coldest winter months. Each church hosts a specific night of the week in a centralised location, not only meeting physical needs but sharing a meal with the guests, building relationships and community. YWAM Holmsted Manor was invited to be part of the Night Shelter from January 2017, running Wednesday nights.
The shelter runs year-round, and we lead Wednesdays every other term.
