Don’t let anyone put you down because you’re young.
Teach believers with your life.”

1 Timothy 4:12

So what is Mission Adventures?

Aimed at anyone 15+, Mission Adventures is just over two weeks of deepening your relationship with God as you join an outreach team and work alongside experienced missionaries in a cross-cultural setting. Our team takes care of all the details and these YWAM missionaries will lead the trip - encouraging, challenging and supporting you the whole way! Location options are focused mainly in Eastern Europe, and include a variety of ministries that give you the opportunity to share the gospel and serve in practical ways.

The adventure begins with 4 days of training to prepare you for the 10-day trip, and ends with 2 days of reflection and celebration of what God has done, with a challenge to continue with a missional perspective at home! Come by yourself, bring a group of friends or encourage your youth group to come, all are welcome!

We believe that young people carry a passion for Jesus that the world needs to see

Getting equipped for your trip

Mission flows naturally and easily from a life that’s focused on God; we have to get to know God before we can share about Him with others! Mission Adventures starts with a four day training programme at YWAM Holmsted Manor that’s specifically designed to encourage you in your faith, as well as give you practical skills that’ll be needed for mission. This time will be spent learning more about God through times of worship, prayer and teaching sessions on the character and nature of God. We’ll spend the time getting to know one another, doing team building activities and learning more about mission. Whether you’re coming on your own or as part of a larger group, it’s important to learn to work together and communicate well within the team! To make sure you’re well prepared for mission, there will also be times of practical teaching and workshops specifically tailored to your outreach location, learning skills you’ll need for ministry in that place!

Making God known around the world

After spending time getting to know God better, groups will then leave on a 10-day outreach with our Mission Adventures staff. Ministry opportunities will vary location to location, but the heart behind everything we do is to make God known in that nation! You may find yourself providing food and clothing to those in need; helping to run a children’s summer camp; painting a wall or walking through the streets intentionally sharing the Gospel with others. In all of this, you’ll be challenged to love the person in front of you and communicate God’s love to them. As well as this, the schedule during your time away will also include time with your team and some free time where you’ll be able to rest and explore the location that you’re in.

Looking at what God’s done

Following your time away, you and your team will return to YWAM Holmsted Manor for a brief time of discussing and reflecting upon your trip. It is important that you take the time to look at all that has happened; you and your faith will have changed because of the experience. As you start to process your time away, we will look at how to share your adventure with your friends, family and church as well as what it could look like to apply all that you learned into your daily life at home. We will finish our time together with a celebration of all that God has done by sharing testimonies from the trip with your family and friends.

Programme A - 2nd July - 19th July with outreach location choices of Moldova, Albania or Brighton, UK
Programme B - 30th July- 16th August with outreach location choice of Romania

Location Options:
  • Moldova - In Moldova we will be working with a local pastor and his wife who runs a children's camp in the summer months. Week one in Moldova will be serving there and you will probably do a combination of games, songs with actions, skits, face painting, balloon modelling and/or sports. On the second week, you will continue to work with pastor and will find yourself working more with the church. This may be by attending meetings at the church, being a part of some of their weekly programmes and activities into the local community, or even practically such as gardening or painting.
  • Albania - We'll be working with a missionary couple who do a lot of sports ministry. I've been reassured that you don't need to be a sports person so don't worry if you are not sporty yourself! We will also be working with the local church and doing different outreach projects to the local community.
  • Brighton - In Brighton we're going to be partnering with some YWAMers there who very much have a heart for conservation and care of the earth, so you'll be doing different activities designed to get people talking about recycling, climate change and how we can be a part of taking care of God's creation. There is also talk about helping with some children's programmes, an international cafe and something called the Kindness Project.
  • Romania - We will be working with a local church in Romania. Last year, they did a lot of outreach in the park - face-painting, worship, songs with actions and a few other things. They also spent some time prayer walking and interacting with people along the beach. Constanta is a big holiday city, so you'll find loads of people from many different nations there for a beach holiday.
