There are a number of passages in the Bible that refer to the mandate to care for the poor and marginalised in society. For a number of years, some of the team at Holmsted Manor have been volunteering at other churches and ministries that were engaged in these areas of reaching out to those in need.
Out of that volunteering, in the last three or four years, Holmsted Manor has been invited to join with some established work in this area. As a community, we have decided to get involved and be part of the outworking of God’s call to bring about transformation, both in society as a whole and in the lives of specific individuals.
For a number of years, we were involved in the Brighton and Hove Churches Night Shelter, which offered a hot meal and a safe place to sleep to those who would otherwise be rough-sleeping. In 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this project closed in its current form but we are still committed to seeing how we can partner with other churches and organisations to support those in need.
As well as the Holmsted Manor contribution to homeless support detailed below, a number of our team continue to be involved with other ministries offering hope to those in difficult and complicated situations.
